Your headlight switch is mounted in a removable lighting control module, which contains the headlight/parking/fog lamp
switch and the dimmer control for the dash lights. The dimmer control
is also the on/off switch for the interior courtesy lights. None of
these components are designed to be serviceable without first
removing the entire lighting control module from the dash. Damage will result if you try to remove the module without following
the proper removal procedures.
The
Ford engineers were pretty creative when they designed the lighting
control module locking mechanism in your vehicle. Unless you know the secret
to
releasing the module, you will almost certainly break the module or
damage your dash
trying to remove it. If you break the module, it will cost from
$120 to over $200 to replace it. Many others have already learned
this expensive lesson the hard way. Fortunately, you have the
opportunity to avoid making the same mistake by getting a copy of our
newest publication, "Ford Headlight Switch Removal Procedures" in our ongoing series of "You Can Fix It Yourself!" automotive repair manuals.
